Terms of Service

Last updated: May 4, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Authority Engine ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including visitors to the public scanner and paid subscribers.

2. The Service

Authority Engine is a local SEO platform that provides business authority analysis, citation building, news network publishing, competitor intelligence, rank tracking, and AI-generated content. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You may not share your account with others or use the Service to manage businesses you do not own or have explicit permission to manage. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to: scrape or harvest data at scale, attempt to reverse-engineer the platform, publish illegal or defamatory content through the News Network, circumvent rate limits or access controls, or use the AI content generation for spam or deceptive marketing. Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination without refund.

5. Payment and billing

Paid plans are billed annually through Paddle, our authorized reseller. All prices are in USD. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard — your plan stays active until the end of the current annual term with no further charges. All sales are final; we do not offer prorated refunds for partial use. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@authorityengine.us and we'll investigate.

6. News Network content

When you publish content through the Authority Engine News Network, you represent that you have the right to publish that content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. Articles published to the network are indexed by Google and may remain live for extended periods. We reserve the right to remove content that violates our acceptable use policy.

7. Connected social and Google accounts

When you connect a Google Business Profile, Facebook Page, LinkedIn account, or other third-party account, you authorize Authority Engine to post content and read profile metadata on your behalf within the scopes you granted. You are responsible for the content posted through these connections — you represent that you have the right to publish each post, that it does not infringe any third-party rights, and that it complies with each platform's own terms of service. We do not pre-moderate content you publish; you remain accountable for what reaches your audience. You may disconnect any account at any time from /dashboard/social.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee specific ranking improvements, specific revenue outcomes, or specific results from using the platform. SEO results depend on many factors outside our control including Google algorithm changes, competitive landscape, and the quality of your business listing.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Authority Engine shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
